I am admittedly a little crazy about birth photography.

The first time I photographed a birth it was for some close friends. I was so afraid that I would faint in the OR, but it turned out to be one of the coolest, most memorable experiences of my life. I loved being able to give my friends photos of one of their most important moments, knowing they would be able to look back on those pictures and cherish them forever. Even still, about six months after that, I was on the fence about having someone take pictures of my own daughter’s birth. I wasn’t totally sold on having photographic evidence of one of my least photogenic moments. Finally, when I was in labor at the hospital, my hubby talked me into asking a friend to come take a few pictures for us using my camera. Boy, am I glad he did. Let me tell it to you straight: I don’t know what I would do without those pictures. They mean the world to me. Now I consider it an absolute privilege to do the same for other families.
